Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Two Other 9/11 Plotters Reach Plea Deal with U.S. Government

The House Oversight Committee has revealed that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, along with two other individuals implicated in the September 11 attacks, has reached a plea deal with the U.S. government. This development has sparked significant controversy and criticism from various quarters.
Brett Eagleson, whose father perished in the World Trade Center attacks, expressed his profound dismay at the news during an interview with Fox News. Eagleson described the plea deal as “just terrible and shocking,” emphasizing the necessity of a public trial. He argued that the American public deserves to hear directly from those affected by the attacks and voiced concerns that the plea deal might deny victims and their families their right to justice.
The “FDNY Union” has also expressed strong disapproval, calling the deal “disgusting and disappointing.” In addition, JD Vance, running mate of former President Donald Trump, criticized the agreement, asserting that the U.S. should pursue a more aggressive stance against terrorists rather than negotiating with them.

In response to GOP criticism, the White House has clarified that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were not involved in the decision-making process regarding the plea deal.
